Cadillac has not had a great history with compact sedans. Of course the automaker is the uncontested champion of the american luxury car, but attempts at sizing down their signature extra large sedans just weren’t very well done, nor very well received. That is until the Cadillac ATS in Denver hit the scene at Rickenbaugh Cadillac for the 2013 model year. Cadillac has shown us in many of their recent entries to the market that they are willing to learn from their mistakes and take cues from some of the more successful competition. The ATS is the pinnacle of this spirit of providing high quality cars that both look and drive like a Cadillac should. Even if the ATS is much smaller than you typically think of in a Cadillac it still feels like the iconic brand in every way once you climb inside.

Cadillac ATS in Denver Styling
Unlike most of the competition in the compact luxury sedan segment, the ATS available now at your Cadillac Dealership in Denver offers exciting styling. Sharp angular lines mark the new look of the Cadillac front end on the ATS as in some of the larger models in the lineup. The front end is more reminiscent of an Italian sports coupe than the typical boxy grilles that are the normal home of the famous Cadillac badge. The days of the Dagmar bumper are now officially over and era of the sophisticated and sleek Cadillac have now officially arrived with the introduction of the ATS.

Cadillac ATS in Denver Features
Not only does the ATS from Rickenbaugh Cadillac offer superior styling on the exterior, it delivers the kind of luxurious quality that you have come to expect from any Cadillac. Of course you will get the leather interior that you expect, but you will also get the modern luxury items that are typically at a major premium on lesser vehicles. Items like the CUE infotainment system that allows you to seamlessly control not just all the gadgetry that comes with your new Cadillac ATS, but all of the electronics that bring on board. The Driver Awareness Package is another great add for the ATS, offering such ground breaking features as front collision alert, lane departure warning, and rear cross traffic (blind spot) alert.

Cadillac ATS in Denver Powertrains
What we are really here for, though, is the performance. What good is a luxury sports sedan from your Cadillac Dealership in Denver if it doesn’t offer any sport with it’s luxury after all. The Cadillac ATS in Denver both delivers and it does not in the powertrain area. First on the block is the entry level engine, which comes standard on the 2.5 models. This engine is a 2.5 liter four cylinder that pumps out 202 horses and 190 lb-ft of torque. While these numbers are not the worst in the segment they certainly have a hard time keeping up with the competitions entry level offerings. The acceleration on the 2.5 is adequate at best and the overall experience leaves much to be wanted. The next step up the line, however, is a thoroughly satisfying step in the right direction. The mid level engine is a 2.0 liter four cylinder that is blessed with a turbocharger which helps this lower displacement 4 get all the way up to 272 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. While the overall horsepower in the 2.0 turbo may not be the best we’ve seen the over the to torque provides very responsive acceleration which is sure to put a smile on your face. Finally the Cadillac ATS in Denver offers us the top of the line performance minded powertrain.  Available on the Performance trim is the 3.6 liter V6 good for 321 horsepower and 274 lb-ft or torque. This is a truly exhilarating engine which is sure to snap your head back in your seat and generate a very satisfying grin that you will have a hard time removing.

Cadillac ATS in Denver Transmissions
Now we get to the big complaint with the Cadillac ATS in Denver. Cadillac has done a wonderful job in providing us performance enthusiasts with an option for a six speed manual transmission. This not to say that the six speed automatic transmission that comes standard on the ATS is not a great transmission. The automatic offer smooth shifts and an overall good experience. No matter how good your automatic is, though, it just can’t match the driving experience of popping into 3rd gear to get a bit more revs for that high speed pass on the highway. Why then would Cadillac offer a six speed manual transmission for the ATS, but only on the mid grade engine? It boggles the mind that a performance oriented transmission would be available on most of the models except the one with the name Performance. However, if you weren’t planning on opting for a manual transmission to begin with, the ATS is still a great all around choice.
